I have lived in Vancouver for just three months. It is not long enough to know a lot about Vancouver and Canadian culture but it is enough time to make me fall in love with this city. The following reasons are why I love it here.
First, this is a beautiful city with plenty of scenery such as English Bay Beach, Stanley Park, Queen Elizabeth Quarry Gardens, Classical Chinese Garden. Besides, there are many activities to do indoor and outdoor. Some are exciting, others are relaxing. It was easy to lose my soul when I discovered Downtown, walked around Canada Place, visited the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, hung out in neighbourhoods, explored Olympic Village, watched the Cruise Ships go by at Dundarave Pier or visited museums: Science World museum, Rennie Museum, Vancouver Maritime Museum, Museum of Vancouver. I like the fresh air and clean atmosphere, when I hiked trails in Stanley Park or walked belong on the English Bay Beach. I really enjoyed when I visited Granville Island and Capilano Salmon Hatchery.
Second, people are so friendly and from many countries. There is no racism or cultural discrimination. Every nation is equally respected. When people settle here they bring their cultural traits. Thus, it is very easy to find and try famous and delicous dishes from different countries such as Vietnamese, Japanese, Chinese, Indian, Mexican, Iranian, Turkish, Italian, French and so on.
Third, the weather is cool with abundant sunshine in the summer. I especially love summer here. In winter, Vancouver has relatively mild winters with little snow and it is not too cold.
Last thing and also a very special thing to me, I love Vancouver’s free public libraries, good community centers and social centers helping newcomers settle like MOSAIC. Even if you are a visitor here you can still get access and services free or for a little bit money. You can go to MOSAIC to improve your English or make new friends and find information related to life. It helps a newcomer integrate into a social community and build a new life easier.
Well this is the end of my story about Vancouver. I can say that Vancouver has won my heart.
